We’re celebrating our 150th anniversary by taking a look back at color throughout the decades. Loved the 1960s? So did we! Paisleys met geometrics, boldly marking the decade of peace, love and rock ‘n’ roll. Want to add  a bit of this bright, modern palette to your home? Try Navel SW 6887, Daisy SW 6910, Exuberant Pink SW 6840 and Forget Me Not SW 6824.

A Natural Beauty: On Display

Just a day of drying in the sun, and voila! This salvaged bowl is ready to give a new home to Megan’s vintage jewelry collection. She retained the integrity of the uniqueness of the bowl by only adding accents of color and highlighting the wood’s natural beauty.

Who says you can’t get anything for a dollar these days?

Ready for the reveal? This once-forgotten Victorian dresser has a new, vibrant life with an eclectic color scheme, perfect for taking center stage in any room. Any room, you ask? That’s right—vanity dressers don’t have to be kept in the bedroom. The beautiful construction and gorgeously cut glass can serve as a hutch or sideboard in the living room or dining room.

It’s easy to make almost any piece of furniture perfect for your home. Perhaps the only thing holding it back from fitting in with your décor is the perfect color! Don’t be afraid to experiment by contrasting old pieces and new colors to make anything feel welcome in your space.

Supplies:

SunStrip™ DL paint and varnish remover

Plastic drop cloth

Frog Tape® Multi-Surface tape

Purdy® XL Cub short-handled brush

Emerald Interior Paint

1 quart Tricorn Black (SW 6258)

1 quart Exclusive Plum (SW 6263)

A Dresser Re-loved: Step 5

Now to add some bold color… On its own, Exclusive Plum (SW 6263) is an elegant shade that can be used in any room (it is the Color of the Year, after all!), but pair it with Tricorn Black, and it makes a real statement against a dark frame. The short-handled brush came in handy again to get into the beautiful scrollwork on the faces of the drawers.

Drawers have a natural frame around them, so choosing a contrasting or complementary color can make them stand out. Just make sure the color combo you choose adds to the room you’ll be using it in.
